PreS-These slim board books answer the question in their title with words selected by the editors of the American Heritage Dictionaries for their age-appropriateness. Donde me escondo? introduces prepositions through a mischievous gray elephant who hides in unusual places-between sheets, in a field of flowers, under the table, etc. Though reminiscent of Keith Baker's Hide and Snake (Harcourt, 1999), this book is lacking in the illustrative and narrative strength evident in Baker's work. In Que dia es? a charming rabbit family illustrates the days of the week as its members go grocery shopping, draw, study music, and more. The small size dictates lap use. Generally appealing illustrations complement a clear and straightforward bilingual text. Though these titles have applicability in ELL programs as introductions to prepositions and location and to the days of the week, they lack the charm and child appeal of Tomie DePaola's bilingual Marcos Colors and Marcos Counts (both Harcourt, 2003).-Ann Welton, Grant Elementary, Tacoma, WA Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
